Thank you to everyone who made Stew Fest 2024 a great success! We had over 120 attendees and raised more than $3,500! See you next year at Stew Fest 2025!

An annual event to support scholarships and operations at the Stew Makerspace.

Help support the Stew Makerspace at this delicious fundraiser!

Entry: $15

  • Community chefs will cook a variety of stews, soups, chilis, and more for you to sample! Also crackers, chips, and lemonade. Bring your appetite!

  • Vote for your favorite stew!

  • Bid in a silent auction featuring the work and services of local artists!

  • Wine available (for donation)

Schedule:

  • Doors open at 5:30 PM, food served until 7:00 PM

  • Stew Chef coronation 7:00 PM

  • Silent auction bid winners announced 7:15 PM

All funds raised from this event go to support the Stew Makerspace, which helps us keep patron fees low for community members and free for Grinnell High School students.

    • A hearty, healing vegetarian stew packed with veggies, cream, and love.

  • Christmastime Potato Leek Soup - by Jordan Esbrook

    • A decadent holiday tradition from our family with love!

  • Mystery Mushroom Medley (V) - by Lisa Bacon

    • Foraged fungi provided by forests, farms and food purveyors from the banks of the Mississippi to the shores of the Pacific. Presented in an homage to Eastern European style cuisine.

  • Minnesota Wild Rice Stew (V) - by Kathy & Brian Sogard

    • Creamy Minnesota Red Lake Nation Wild Rice Stew with mushrooms, carrots, celery, and onion.

  • Peanut Stew (Vg) - by Judy Hunter

    • A vegan melange of peanuts, sweet potatoes, peppers, lime juice, and other secret seasonings.

  • Spiced Tavern Chili - by Kate Baumgartner

    • Spiced, meaty, and fit for a hero! (recipe from "Heroes' Feast: The Official D&D Cookbook")

  • Lentil Sausage Soup - by Rebecca Sallee Hanson

    • A flavorful fantasy of pork sausage crumbles and plump lentils in a succulent tomato-based stew.

  • Butternut, Sweet Potato, Lentil Stew (Vg) - by Mary Lindberg

    • A beautiful, hearty, vegan stew that is as pleasing to look at as it is to eat.

  • Butternut Squash Soup (V) - by Kendra Vincent

    • Enjoy this cozy, hug-in-a-mug, warm you to your toes Butternut Squash soup. This soup features roasted butternut squash and veggies along with a variety of warming spices like cinnamon, cloves, and fennel and red pepper.

  • Loaded Baked Potato - by Rita Mertens

    • This is a warm comforting potato stew with all the fixings. Great for a cold day in February!

  • 13 Spice Vegetarian Chili (V) - by Rebecca Loew

    • A satisfying blend of spices, beans, and chilis with a hint of chocolate and lime reminiscent of molé and hot summer nights.
